No Post For Today

I was not able to complete a quality post for today because of a large storm with 80mph winds in the Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky tri-state area. They were active looking at tornadoes. I had to shut down my computer. Check back tomorrow for a post.

What A Avon Representative Should Remember When They Start A Marketing Campaign

Here are a few tips a Avon Representative should keep in mind when they are launching a new marketing campaign for their Avon business.

A Avon Representative will get 80% of their sales from 20% of their customers. Know exactly who those 20% are and target that group with power.

Research is a very important part of your marketing plan.  Ask and Answer who your prospects are, and where, why, when, and how they are converted into active buyers.

I find that most of my buyers are women and many are over the age of 40. So I look for places and ways I can expose that group to my Avon business. One of the best places I have found to sell in is a retirement community. I have many residents buy, and even more nurses and aids.

As your business grows, prepare a strategic marketing plan looking at how your Avon products will meet the long-term needs of your customers.

What This Avon Representative Does For Direct Marketing

For a Avon Representative business running a direct mail campaign here are many attractive features. You can buy a list in your surrounding zip code to target those prospects who are close to you. You can start out by send out only a small size of literature to see what the response will be.

This enables you to stop the campaign if response is too low or find out if it will be high. If it’s just you working your Avon Representative business are you going to be able to handle all the requests for brochures if the response is very high?

In addition, a direct mail campaign is faster than a advertising campaign. You will know if the direct mail campaign is effective in a short amount of time, within a week. The costs are low if researched and planned right.

Since it is cost effective you can test the response to different types of literature sent out. You can also target the same groups over and over. This is idea since it is said that it takes people an average of 7 exposures to your business for them to finally inquire and buy.

I have been asked by another Avon Representative, Brenda, to do a blog post on my postcard direct mailing campaign and my Try-Avon-On-Me Baggies that I mentioned in my post on my up-dated goals. I love being asked to write about something and I will happily share all the ways I prospect for customers.

When I signed on to do Avon my upline told me to get business cards at vistaprint.com. I love stationary products and after I viewed vista print.com and all their great deals I fell in love with site.

Over time I notice that you could do a postcard direct mail campaign through their site. I first paid to send out postcards I had created to 100 people.

I then realized that vistaprint.com sells lists of people based on zip codes. I thought “it would be cheaper if I got the 100 postcards for free.” (You pay for shipping). Then send them out on my own.

I bought the list and got the several 100 postcards. I then thought of asking a customer of mine who has free time if she would like to fill them out. In return, I would pay her by giving her free Avon products and letting her order out of my What’s New book. She agreed and has become a best friend.

On the cards, I offer either a free gift, product that is least priced is free. Or 15% Off. I have found several customers this way. I like paying a little extra money to do this campaign because tossing is so hard to do in the winter.

I’m not knocking tossing. There is nothing like getting a full-color brochure in the hands of a prospective customer. Really, the costs are only a little more than buying a few 100 brochures. However, stamps can kill you.

Another thing I have always done is make up bags of samples with a trial size sample or 2 chap sticks, a magnet business card (which I got from vista print.com and I have found they are more likely to be kept by the prospects since they can display it in their kitchen), and a postcard/coupon.

I have always given these out as a welcome gift to new customers. Recently, I have started handing them out periodically with a brochure to anyone who is interested and may buy Avon. I call them Try-Avon-On-Me Baggies.

I get most of my samples from Avon Representatives going out of business on Ebay. If you do this make sure it is cost effective per unit. Many people are selling samples for more than Avon does.

Also make sure you are not getting a discontinued product. I always get my trial sizes directly from Avon when I find them on sale in the brochure, outlet or flyers.

I have talked about how you need to be using trial sizes on both my Avon Representative blog. On this blog the post is called “Why You Should Be Using Trial Sizes” go here to see it:

http://angiesavon1.blogspot.com/2011/02/customers-of-avon-representatives-will.html

A new campaign that I have started is placing brochures in what’s new bags on the bulletin board at my grocery store.

What do you do to prospect for customers? Share your secrets!

Will you try any of my ideas?

How To Become A Avon Representative And 27 Reason Why You Should

Many people are looking for a way in which they can become self-employed. They have had enough of being dictated to. And are fed up with long and frustrating commutes to work. They want the freedom of being their own boss and to be able to choose their own hours of work.

Are you thinking about setting up your own business? If your answer to this question is yes, this post could be of great value to you. The best way I know of starting a successful home business is to become an Avon Representative.

Avon is celebrating 125 years with over 5 million representatives, and the number of Avon Representatives is expected to keep growing with the continuing success of the company’s direct selling method.

Avon is a leading global beauty company with over $8 billion in annual revenue. As the world's largest direct seller, Avon markets to women in well over 100 countries. Representatives earn more than $3 billion annually. And Avon has more than one billion annual Customer transactions.

You Need To Get In On This Action!

Leaving a full time career can be quite a scary prospect. The security of having a regular income can be hard to let go of. Other people are willing and happy to take the risk and see it as a way of getting out of the rat race.

Unlike other companies there are no huge startup fees, no quotas, no stock, no parties, no boundaries and no meetings that you have to attend.

All you will need to do is pay $10 to start your Avon business. That includes your kit, your learning materials, the application and unlimited access to a website designed for you to succeed. At your Avon.com, you will find all the training material you will need and there are Beauty of Knowledge classes to get you going.

The Ick Factor In The Avon Representative Sales Process

Avon tells us Avon Representative that the fortune is in the follow-up. When you follow-up with your customers you re-connect with them and continue to build a relationship, which allows your business to grow. All the sales experts say to follow up and ask for the sale, do not wait for them to call you. Just because a customer hasn't called doesn't mean they do not want to buy, they may be waiting for you or they have forgot when the order is due back to you.

But if you are like me, you do not make that call because you do not want to bother the customer or appear pushy. I did a survey with my regular customers that asked the question "would you like a reminder call", all but one asked for a follow up call.

So What Can We Do:

The term follow-up is misleading by definition. We do not want to "follow" but take the "lead". Based on the definition of lead from dictionary.com, ‘to act as a guide or to influence’, we can see that this word is much more appropriate. The term lead is a perfect description of the part of the sales process where the representative gets in contact with the customer to ask for the sell.

When we need to change follow-up to lead-up. That way we get a description of what we need to be doing. We are given positive action verbs that make us believe we are acting in the best interest of the customer.

Do You Think This Is A Good Idea? Please Comment With Your Opinion.

Sales Tips For Avon Representatives--Find Out The Customer's Problem, Then Solve It

Sales Tip For Avon Representatives:

You can’t force people to do anything.

When a customer buys from a Avon Representative, it’s not because you have some magical power. You can urge or push or entice. However, the customer will actually do what they want to do. This means your job is to show how what you’re offering meets your prospect’s needs. First, find out what problem they have. Second, show how which Avon product will solve the problem.

What Every Avon Representative Should Know About Buyer Behavior

Every Avon Representative should know that customers do not buy products because of a sales pitch. They really buy products from Avon representative because the product will solve a problem they are dealing with.

I have found a great article “Buyers Buy for Their Own Reasons, Not Ours!” that covers buyers’ behavior and motivation for making purchases that I want to share with you. I have found the information in the article to be very useful in my own Avon business,

“In its simplest form, motivation emerges as a cycle. It starts with a want or need, expressed or hidden. Inherent in this is a problem, a problem that must be overcome in order to satisfy the want that must be solved. Once solved, the want can be satisfied and the cycle is completed….”

3 Marketing Tactics To Boost A Avon Representative's Sales

Booming economies come and go and bring surges of profit for many businesses. However, there are some businesses that just seem to weather the tough times with grace. They are not really affected by recessions. Some would say they have a secret source... Maybe they do... Customers.

We all know, customers always buy. In the good times and in the bad times. They still have needs and still have to make purchases. When a Avon Representative understands their needs and wants, they will have the keys to keeping an in flow of sales and profits to their business. Implement these three tactics that successful marketers use, and you're set for success.

1. Just One

Customers can be like a two year old in a candy store... they want it all. Sometimes it's hard for a customer to make up their mind about what you really do want when Avon sells over 5,000 great products. But it pays to promote one product over the others.

Focusing on one product will create interest in your Avon businesses. It spells out loud and clear... THIS IS THE BEST DEAL. That will be the deciding factor in most cases. It also grabs a customers attention and get them interested in what else you have to offer.

Promoting all of Avon’s products is overwhelming to a customer. They will back away from you. In addition, if a Avon Representative focuses one product, it will focus your advertising. And your marketing will be easy for your customers to understand.

2. Make Them Feel Good

Customers buy because they want to enjoy the pleasures of the purchase. A lady might buy a dress because she wants to feel sexy. And a man will buy Black Suede to attract women. Emotions are the key element that drives purchases.

First, find out what your customer wants. Then talk about how your product can help them to reach their goal. Use your words to get them to feel their pain. Have them see it in their mind. Next help them to feel what it will be like when the problem is gone. Finally, introduce your product as the means to cure the problem.

Using word pictures to stir up the emotions will get you the sale. Let them "feel" the benefits, and they'll be more apt to hand over their money.

3. Make Contact And Follow Up

Following up with a customer who didn't buy can be the determining factor between an "almost sale" and a satisfied, loyal customer. Avon teaches their representatives that the “fortune is in the follow up”. Simply contact them afterwards and let them know the product is still available or offer them further information they may find valuable.

Following up with a customer keeps you and your Avon business in their mind. You can offer additional information about your products. And when they have a problem they will think of you and your products.

It is said that it takes many customers an average of 7 contacts with you to even make the first purchase. So follow up and keep giving information about your Avon business and the products Avon has for sale. It will also help to keep providing samples.

Using these 3 tactics a Avon Representative can make their sales sky rocket.

Try these 3 tactics out for yourself and Share your comments with me.

8 Steps To Get A Avon Representative Started Networking And Marketing On Facebook

Once a social platform for college students, facebook is the latest buzzword in social media marketing. However, most members are extremely online savvy and they smell blatant advertisements from miles away.

It is important to know some basics and gain experiences in utilizing the site. And interacting with its members before you start planning your facebook marketing campaign.

1. Create a profile. The first step is to create a profile. Sign up using your real name and upload some pictures. If you do not have an email with a top-level edu domain, by default you join a regional network based on your zip code or international address.

Later, you have the option to join your company's network and change your regional networks. You can change your networks twice in a 60-day period.

Always upload a profile picture. If you don't upload a picture, facebook places a default question mark icon. It is a good strategy to show your face in facebook. Don't use group pictures for your profile because others may have difficulty identifying you in the group pictures. Don't use logos, your cute cat or dogs’ pictures, or a picture of your expensive car and boat.

You don't have to fill out all the profile information. Fill in only the information you are comfortable sharing with others. If you want to find dates using facebook, fill up the relationship status feature of your profile accordingly.

Don't change your profile status often because others will notice it and doubt your trustworthiness.

2. Make friends. On Facebook a Avon Representatives can find active facebook friends by using the emails in their address book. Once you get a few friends, new friend requests will pour in from your friends of friends.

You can also search for friends and send requests. I searched “Avon” and asked everyone with Avon in their name to be my friend. Work on creating a network of 100 to 200 friends.

Don't make friends with celebrities because in most cases these are fake profiles setup for marketing purposes.

3. Upload pictures and videos. Start uploading some interesting pictures and group them in albums of travel pictures, baby shower photos, bachelor party scenes, etc. Pictures help people connect with your life without meeting you face to face. Always upload a number of related pictures or themes.

Create a random albums and put all your random pictures in the random album. Tag your pictures to identify people on the pictures. When you tag your friends in your pictures, they show up in their wall. You can also share your albums with others outside facebook.

Avon Representatives can also upload personal videos using their browser or mobile phone or directly record videos to facebook.

4. Use friends' walls and never post on your own wall. You have a wall in facebook for others to write notes. Don't write in your own wall. Write in your friends' walls. Your friends will write notes, share videos or links in your wall. You do the same in your friends' walls.

When a friend posts something on your wall, reply to the post. If you find the posting annoying, politely ask them to back off and clean up your wall.

5. Join a few groups. There are all sorts of organic groups in facebook. These are groups of people with similar interests. Find a few that interest you and join them.

You can create your own group but first find out if one exists on the same topic. This is an excellent place to be creative and get support from a bunch of people for your cause.

6. Create events and invite people. If you want to host a party, this is the feature you will use. Create your events and invite others to join. You can make an event public for your friends to see or private for the invitees to browse.

7. Send notes and share links. You send notes to your friends. Depending on the topic, you can send a note to a few friends or to all friends in your network.

Don't send chain letter notes because people find these repulsive. Your notes show up in your friends' news feeds or on their walls. A tagged note shows up on the wall, otherwise, it is found in the homepage news feed.

Use share for sharing links, even though you can use this feature for sharing notes. Share the link of a cheap travel-booking site that you found while surfing the net planning your upcoming vacation.

8. Visit your homepage everyday. Besides your profile page in facebook, you also have a homepage. You homepage displays collaborative news feeds of all your friends, event and group invitations, friendship requests, friends' birthdays, etc. If you want to know what is going on in your facebook friend circle, visit your homepage everyday.

The other features of facebook are poke, marketplace, facebook mobile, and hundreds of applications that enhance the facebook experience. As the facebook awareness grows, online marketers have started pounding the facebook door to gain a foothold.

Music For The Avon Generation

The Music of Ronnie Gibson is now being featured on the “Diary of A Mad Avon Lady” and “A Business Woman’s Story”, the leaders in blogs for Avon Representatives.

A singer/songwriter from Cincinnati, Ronnie has been playing guitar for almost 30 years now. He wrote his first song “Right Out The Door” in 1983 during his 8th grade school year.

Ronnie Gibson had 12 top 40 songs, and 2 top 5 songs on the mega music website Mp3.com around 2002. At that time he also produced his first CD “Hiding In The House”. And followed with the cd single for the song “Haunted House”.

In His Younger Days

In his younger days, Ronnie played bass guitar for several bands in and around the Cincinnati area. These days he runs several sites for his new music including ones on ReverbNation and Myspace.com. He has new recordings of new songs on the way, with a new CD being produced.

In The Future

He has new recordings of new songs on the way, with a new CD being produced.

He is also tinkering with an idea to start a website for the new music he is doing with wife of almost 2 years, Heather Pawlicki Gibson. Married on Friday the 13th 2009, they have quickly built a whole new catalog of music. And a cd is in the works.

Are You The Reason You're Not Getting The Prospect?

The First Commandment of a Avon Representative

"Any Prospect Is A Good Prospect"

The mindset by which you approach a prospect determines the final outcome more than Anything Else you do. Therefore, your fame of mind should be friendly, confident, smiley, self-assured, enthusiastic, positive, and completely prepared. On your mind? You should be thinking about the customers.

That's a great commandment but what do you do when you wake up late, have a nine o'clock appointment and still have to drop your teenager off at school? Your mindset is negative, unsure, nasty, and unprepared.

The first step in the process of changing your belief system is to monitor your thoughts. And the next step is to control them through the power of choice.

According to a study "self-talk" is 150-300 word per minute. And it is thought that 40% of the messages in your mind are negative and self-critical. What you can do is choose to reframe your negative thought, and choose to let the voice in your mind talk about happy things.

Choosing to change your mind changes your attitude. We all have days when we believe we will not get the prospects and there is really no reason to go out and prospect for customers and downline.

You will always have to deal with difficult, awkward and unresponsive people. When this happens to you, do not dwell on it and sink into despondency. Instead just forget about it, move on and start all over again.

In addition, you set the tone for the outcome with enthusiasm, attitude and by putting your belief system into place. Thinking you will get the prospect is dependent on your self-confidence. In return, self-confidence is based on your preparation.

We need to learn about our world everyday. And learning about our techniques will enable us to give ourselves those confident thoughts.

The Basics Of An Avon Fundraiser

One of the easiest ways for an Avon Representative to achieve president club or a higher level is by throwing an Avon fundraiser. I have heard of people who made $3000.00 in sales in a single event.

The biggest advantage of an Avon fund-raiser is selling useful products from a nationally known brand name that people will love spending money on. Parents would rather purchase bubble bath, sunscreen, lotion, seasonal gifts, and other needed products instead of over-priced candy.

There are two types of fund-raisers you can offer. The single page flyer, with easy to sell products on one side and an order form for on the other side. Or a full-brochure event, showing all the products.

An Avon fund-raisers provides a 40% profit on the total dollar sale of Avon products sold by your charity. You can give the whole 40% to the group or less. Many choose to give 30% so that they are compensated for their effort.

In order to achieve the 40% profit, your group would need to sell a minimum of $1,500.00 in Avon products. If your group’s sales total were below $1,500 you would earn the following profits:

Total Sales Percentage of Earnings

$0 - $249--20%
$249.01 - $40--25%
$401.01 - $850--30%
$850.01 - $1,499.99--35%
$1,500 and up--40%

As you can see by the enclosed chart it would only take 10 people selling $15 worth of Avon products to 10 customers to reach total sales of $1,500 and the 40% earnings profit margin.

If you are an Avon Representative who has done a fundraiser please comment below. I would like to interview some representatives and do a full post.

I Wrote This For Those Who Can Not Speak

What’s a good reason to give to a charity? Do think that “everybody else gives, they don’t need my help“? No! Not everyone is giving and everyday a dog goes hungry and a child sits in a hospital with nothing to look forward to.

Charities cover a wide range of issues and causes. There are charities for family planning, AIDS, animal protection, human rights, and cancer, just to name a few. People give to charities for various reasons, including personal reasons, religion and for a tax incentives.

I have chosen to include 2 charities on my blogs “Diary Of A Mad Avon Lady” and “A Business Woman” Story, The Art of Elysium and spcaLA. Both are very near and dear to my heart. They deal with the 3 things I love the most, children, the arts and animals.

The Art of Elysium encourages working actors, artists and musicians to voluntarily dedicate their time and talent to children who are battling serious medical conditions. They provide artistic workshops in the following disciplines: acting, art, comedy, fashion, music, radio, songwriting and creative writing.

spcaLA believes that animals, as living creatures, have value beyond economic measurement, and are entitled to legal, moral and ethical consideration and protection. spcaLA is not affiliated with any other "SPCA" or humane society. And do not receive any support from either of these agencies.

Both are non-profit and very worthy causes. Thank you for reading this post, and if you give, thank you from me, the children, and all those animals who can speak for themselves.

For more information on The Art Of Elysium and spcaLA, and to make a donation, even if it is $5, follow the links below.

Why You Should Be Using Trial-Sizes

The customers of Avon Representatives will almost always buy an Avon product if given the trial-size for free. People love free stuff and they especially like the trial-sizes because they see it as a “large gift” and have more of the product to try then with a small sample.

People today are hesitant to spend their hard-earned money on something new, unless they receive a recommendation from a friend, family member or other trusted source. But if Avon Representative offers them a trial-size of a product for free, two things happen; first they are allowed to test the product without any risk, and second a law of reciprocity kicks in, they will feel compelled to buy.

There are many ways to use this cost-effective way of letting Avon customers try an item. Avon Representatives should be on the look out for trial-sizes on sale in the brochures, flyers, and the outlet (you need to be giving your customers a outlet, they will be grateful to get the items for some cheap and will sometimes make a larger order). I also look on eBay for Avon Representatives who having an going out of business sale. However, calculate the cost per each item before bidding.

When giving trial-sizes away try to give them to people who would most likely use the item, your target market. Then tell them they can get the large size from you and try to get contact information. Also remember to give any instructions on how to use the product. And if you can, write down who got what, to follow up later.

I am going to give away some trial sizes of Anew and a coupon in campaign 4. Doing this I hope you boost sales, find new customers through referrals and lower my costs of marketing and customer acquisition.

Ways Avon Representatives Can Use Trial-Sizes

Promote a product

Gift for large order

Give to most loyal customers

Welcome to Avon gifts for first order

Pass out when out about with business card

Gift for when customer gives a referral

Give to customer so they can give them to friend or family to try and then get a referral

For you or customer to try a new product to be able to recommend it to others

Try this idea and let me know if it works for you as it has with me, I would really like to hear.
